Overview

What is NS (National Standard)?

  • NS (National Standard) means the scientific and technical public standard which the country has uniformly followed in order to increase the accuracy, reasonability and internationality in all spheres of the society. (Subparagraph 1 of Section 3 of the Framework Act on National Standards)

What is KCS (Korea Communications Standard)?

  • KCS (Korea Communications Standard) means "the broadcasting standard" pursuant to the provision of Paragraph 1 of Section 22 of the Enforcement Ordinance of the Framework Act on Broadcasting and Communication Development, as the standard which affects the whole country such as broadcasting & communication providers, manufacturers, research institutes and government departments.

"KCS"

  • KCS means the collection of regulations agreed among broadcasting & communication providers in order to obtain compatibility and correlation in broadcasting & communication-relevant products and services such as production, processing, distribution and accumulation of information, and to facilitate the joint utilization of information
Purposes
  • KCS is intended to develop the broadcasting & communication industry, to provide international competitiveness, and to contribute to the improvement of public interests such as the service user쨈s convenience, stability and environmental improvement.
Objects
  • Matters related to the inter-operability and fair competition among the same and different industries쨈 communication providers
  • Matters which are deemed to have a big ripple effect as the standard to be utilized in other industries
  • Matters related to many government departments, as the standard to be utilized for the informatization facilitation by agencies of the government
  • Matters on the broadcasting & communication equipment and service user's safety and environment betterment
  • Matters on the welfare-centric communication for the disabled
  • Matters which the government deems necessary for technology and industry policies
  • Matters which are deemed necessary for the improvement of national interest among matters included in the International Standard
